# Christmas Countdown

## Overview

Self-service tabletop guessing game featuring 8-10 estimation challenges with Christmas-themed displays. Guests write their answers on a card and can have staff verify their guesses against answer ranges.

## Game Concept

**Format:** Static display station with multiple guessing challenges
**Duration:** Self-paced (3-5 minutes per guest/group)
**Interaction:** Self-service, staff verification optional
**Target Audience:** All ages

## Gameplay

1. Guests approach the Christmas Countdown display station
2. Pick up an answer card
3. Examine each display and write down their guesses
4. Optional: Bring completed card to staff for verification
5. Answers within the valid range are considered correct

## The 10 Challenges

### Quantity Guesses:
1. **Candy Canes in Jar** - Count visible candy canes
2. **Jingle Bells in Container** - Estimate small bells
3. **Mini Ornaments in Bowl** - Count colorful ornaments
4. **Wrapped Candies** - Hershey's Kisses or similar tiny items

### Measurement Guesses:
5. **Height of Stacked Gift Boxes** - Tower height in inches
6. **Length of Ribbon Spool** - Total feet of ribbon
7. **Weight of Stuffed Stocking** - Guess weight in ounces
8. **Circumference of Wreath** - Measurement around in inches

### Visual Counting:
9. **Paper Snowflakes on String** - Count snowflakes on garland
10. **Lights on Mini Tree** - Count individual bulbs

## Answer Ranges

Each challenge has a "valid range" rather than exact answer:
- Easy items: ±15% of actual count
- Medium items: ±10% of actual count
- Hard items: ±5% of actual count

## Materials Needed

- 10 display containers/setups (jars, bowls, stands, etc.)
- Items for each challenge (candy canes, bells, ornaments, etc.)
- Answer cards (printed, reusable with dry erase or disposable)
- Answer key for staff
- Signage explaining the game
- Table/display area (approximately 6-8 feet of table space)

## Setup Requirements

- Single table station in one of the event rooms
- Good lighting for viewing displays
- Clear labeling (Challenge #1, Challenge #2, etc.)
- Staff stationed nearby or answer key posted for self-verification

## Operational Notes

- Minimal staff involvement (self-service)
- Can run continuously throughout event
- No time pressure or competition element
- Guests can attempt individually or as groups
- Restock answer cards as needed

## Design Philosophy

Carnival-style guessing game adapted for Christmas theme. Provides casual engagement opportunity without requiring facilitation or scheduled timing. Works as ambient activity guests can return to multiple times throughout the event.
