# Santa's Secret Message Hunt

**Status:** Complete

## Game Type
Non-linear scavenger hunt / Riddle word hunt with unscrambling challenge

## Duration
~15-20 minutes (passive, done while exploring)

## Player Count
Individual or family groups

## Difficulty
Easy-Medium - All Ages (finding words is easy, unscrambling adds challenge)

---

## Overview
Players receive a riddle sheet with 14 clues pointing to hidden word cards throughout 7 rooms. Each riddle describes a specific feature or location where a word card is hidden. After finding all 14 words, players must unscramble them to reveal Santa's secret Christmas message. The words are intentionally placed OUT OF ORDER to add an extra layer of challenge.

---

## The Secret Message
**"BELIEVE IN THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS AND LET YOUR HEART BE FILLED WITH LOVE"** (14 words)

---

## How It Works

### For Players:
1. Pick up a riddle sheet at the entrance
2. Visit rooms in any order while doing other activities
3. Use the riddles to find hidden word cards in each room (2 words per room)
4. Write down all 14 words on the answer lines
5. **Unscramble** the words to form a complete sentence
6. Turn in completed sheet for a prize

### Key Design Feature:
Each word card has a **number** (1-14) that tells players where it goes in the final message. Words are scattered across rooms in no particular order - players must find all 14, then arrange them by number to reveal the message. The numbers match both the riddle sheet and the word cards.

## Design Philosophy

### Why Numbered Cards Work:
- Players must find ALL cards before the message makes sense
- Numbers scattered across rooms prevent guessing partway through
- Creates "aha!" moment when arranged in order
- Easy verification - just put in numerical order
- More satisfying completion experience

### Why This Format:
- Similar to successful Blackwood Manor format (Society of Cryptic Seekers)
- Non-linear exploration fits venue layout
- All ages can participate (younger kids find cards, older kids/parents unscramble)
- Low staff maintenance
- Uses distinctive room features guests will naturally explore

---

**Similar to:** Blackwood Manor's Society of Cryptic Seekers (riddle-based word hunt)
**Theme:** Santa's secret Christmas message
